Timothy Rex Watkins, Sr., of Conyers, died September 1, 2023, at the age of 63. Son of Guy and Shirley Watkins, Rex was born in Conyers and graduated from Rockdale County High School class of 1978. He owned and operated Watkins Painting for many years and was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church in Conyers since childhood. Rex enjoyed hunting with his family and friends and deep-sea fishing. He was preceded in death by his father, Guy Watkins. Survivors include his mother, Shirley Watkins; loving wife of 39 years, Sandi Watkins; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Jelena Watkins; grandchildren, Sofia, Levi and Laila Watkins; brother and sister-in-law, Lavette and Sharon Watkins; nieces and nephew and their spouses, Tara and Anthony Gaddis, Kristy and Michael Paterno, Chuck and Stephanie Watkins; several great-nieces and great-nephews. A memorial service to celebrate Rex's life will be held 4 o'clock, Friday, September 8, 2023, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia, with Pastor Gene Minor officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday one hour prior to the service. Flowers are accepted or contributions may be made in his memory to Wounded Warrior Project.
