Sidney Harold Ivey, age 90, of Monroe, died January 3, 2017. Harold served his country honorably in the U.S. Army, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. He was a very loving and kind man who enjoyed gardening, fishing, wood work, and working in his yard. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he will be missed by many. Harold was preceded in death by his sister, Ora Mae Williams; brothers, Herbert Ivey, Junior Ivey, Newt Ivey and Bill Ivey. Surviving are his wife of over 70 years, Frances Ivey; sons, Todd Ivey and his wife, Pam, of Monroe, and Timothy Ivey and his wife, Ginger, of Loganville; grandchildren, Justin Ivey and his wife, Traci, of Fort Worth, TX, and Ashley Ivey of Loganville; great grandchildren, Hunter Ivey and Katelyn Ivey of Forth Worth, TX; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11 o'clock, Friday, January 6 at Turner Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Stacy Myers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 4 - 8 Thursday at Henry Funeral Home, Lithonia.
